Purple Wave Mitey-mites complete Perfect Season
It was the battle of the unbeatens on the last game of the season as our Purple Wave took on Eastchester for bragging rights in the RCPWL Mitey-mite division. Both teams finished the regular season unbeaten and added the game on a Saturday night at Heidl Field in Eastchester. Both teams were up for the challenge in front of a capacity crowd, but the Purple Wave came away with a 12-6 victory.
The Purple Wave were the first to score in the second quarter when quaterback Tariq Benjamin passed to Justin Joly in the flat and Joly sprinted to the end-zone from sixty yards for a 6-0 Purple Wave lead.
Jason Irizarry, Jordan Chavez ,Jahad Mayo-Spady and Jermaine Jordan clamped own on Eastchester defensively giving the ball back to the Purple Wave. With 5 minutes to go before half, Dumyr Decime sprinted off left tackle into the end-zone from 30 yards but the touchdown was called back due to holding. Eastchester would capitalize and mount a drive of their own, scoring before halftime and tying the game at 6-6.
The two teams exchanged field position until power running by the Purple Wave advanced the ball deep into Eastchester territory late in the fourth quarter. Joly ended the drive with a 6 yard burst up the middle and seal the 12-6 victory and Purple Wave undefeated season.
In addition to the already mentioned Mitey-mites, the undefeated season was also aided by the play of: Jonathan Yoguez, Nasir Winston, Eugene Wamack, Juel Thomas, Dillon Stephens,Anthony Romeo Jr., John Rivera, Taylor Rhett, Dawoud Randall, Roberto Padilla, Joseph Napolitano, Christian Napolitano, Austin Luzzi, Jermaine Jordan, David Hernandez, Kenney Harris Jr., Damari Hamilton, Jaiden Gary, Jalen Faulkner, Carlos Del Pezo, Reyedon Davis, Bryce Davis, Julian David, Henderson Ckarke, Nicholas Capraro, and Justin Brown.
