Bergen forced a punt but the Lions were in good defensive field position. Bergen received the ball and the Lion defense led by Akel Walker(52), Jonathan Yudell(57) and Charlie Verni(58) clamped down. Fernandez then returned a Bergen punt 40 yards to the Bergen 5 yard line. A penalty pushed the ball back but The Lions drove the ball to the one and Fernandez sneaked in for the opening score. The teams exchanged field position once again until the second quarter when Fernandez returned another punt for a touchdown. This was also called back but the Lions had the ball on the 20 yard line. T-Bolts who played well included 36-28 The Broncos traveled to Monroe-Woodbury this past Sunday and put on a show for the crowd in a tough defeat. In the first half, the Bronco defense had a tough time adjusting to the Monroe-Woodbury offensive scheme, which needed clarification. However, once the issue was resolved and the game went back to the field, the Broncos showed their toughness. After falling behind 21-0 at the half, the Broncos came out in the second half. Jalen Young(15) opened the Broncos scoring on a nifty touchdown run in the third quarter. Closing the score to 21-6. The Bronco defense stiffened and Gregory Powell(9) then took off for a 50 yard offensive touchdown. The successful extra point closed the score to 21-13. The Crusaders answered with another score in the third, but undaunted, the Broncos defense recovered a fumble and Young then moved the offense to the one yard line where he snuck in for a TD, closing the score to 28-20. The Crusaders however were able to score once again. As is the case the Broncos offense came back and jalen Young hit #14 for a touchdown pass, catch and run with nearly 4 minutes still left in the game. However, Coach Flowers recognized that the score was 36-26 and that the Broncos would need to kick a 2 point conversion to pull within a tying or winning touchdown. #14 stepped up to the challenge, even though he had never practiced it and nailed it for a 36-28 final. Monroe was able to run out the clock recognizing that the Broncos were in hot pursuit. The Bronocs played tough all day even without the services of Kyree Griffin(70) who had a arm injury for this week. Others who played well were………….. 35-13 20-13 halftime lead. In the second half it was all Chiefs offense and defense as the Chiefs scored twice and held New City without any points. New City decided to go for a 4th and 2 on their own twenty yard line. The Chiefs stopped them. 5 plays later Exander Rosado(2) scored on a 2 yard run. Rosado also added the extra point.
